Arts & Music
As a congregation we are extremely blessed to have many
talented individuals in our music/creative arts department. Through music and
the creative arts, we are "Joyfully Sharing God’s Love," which is the vision of
our church ministry. We hope that you will enjoy this brief glimpse of our
ministry. If you have any questions about the music/creative arts department,
please channel your questions to the church office.
BELL CHOIRS
Director Louise Weiher
Our church is blessed with five octaves of handbells and four octaves of handchimes. Handbell choirs participate in worship September through May, and at Christmas Eve and Easter services.
The Exaltation Ringers are youth who learn to ring handbell music with the handchimes. They meet on Wednesday afternoons as part of the confirmation program.
The Alleluia Ringers, an adult group, rehearse on Monday evenings and play on the second Sunday of the each month.
The Wiegand Ringers, named after the donors of the original bells, rehearse Wednesday evenings and play on the fourth Sunday of the month. The Weigand Ringers are often invited to play for community events, weddings, and area church services.
Becoming part of the bell choirs is a wonderful way to participate in worship and to enjoy a special fellowship within the church and with other handbell ringers around the world. Reading music is not a prerequisite; a willingness to make the regular time commitment is the only requirement.
VOCAL CHOIRS
Director LeAnn S.
The
Senior Choir is made up of about 16 adults. This choir rehearses on Wednesday
evenings and sings on the first and third Sundays of the month. Many of these choir members are
skilled singers, while others are fairly new in singing.
The
Sunbeam Choir is currently made up of our youngest Sunday school children, ages 2-6. They
rehears every Sunday morning from 10:30 to 10:45 a.m. in the preschool classroom, and
sing for the congregation during the 9:30 a.m. worship service, the second Sunday of each
month. Every other year, they also participate in a Sunday school Christmas program.
Our Praise Team sings
and leads the contemporary worship service at 11:00 a.m. This vocal group is made up of a rotating team
of adult and youth singers, as well as instrumentalists. They rehearse on
Sunday mornings at 10:00 a.m. in the music room and lead worship every Sunday.
Other
opportunities exist for instrumentalists to share their musical talents in worship
throughout the church year.
