Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs. Matthew 19:14

Welcome to Hudson UMC Children’s Ministry. Our purpose is to guide children as they grow as disciples through informative and transformative experiences.

We offer Sunday School classes for kids ages preschool through grade 12. Our education hour is from 9:30-10:45 each Sunday from September through May. Our classes are led by adults who love the Lord and desire to share and witness their faith to our youngest Christians.

Preschool and Kindergarten Sunday School

Our Preschool and Kindergarten Sunday School classes use curricula geared toward that age group. It includes music, arts and crafts, and a lesson. These young disciples bring home activities to do with their families to continue the learning experience throughout the week.

Behind the Cross

Behind the Cross is our Sunday School program for kids in grades 1-5. Our Sunday School students named this program themselves. The name reflects their faith, as well as the uniqueness of the program we offer.

We use the Rotation model. Each grade has an adult “guide” who is with them each Sunday. The students study the same theme/message for four weeks, learning about it each week through the teachers who use a variety of methods of instruction. Because kids learn best by repetition and through a variety of means, we focus on one story each month, and use interactive methods such as story telling, cooking, drama, crafts, games, and geography. The fourth Sunday of each month we have a Sunday School worship service. The service focuses on the story and themes, includes the aspects of worship, and involves the kids. For more information about the rotation method, visit rotation.org.

Feeling wool from sheep like Jacob and Esau would have raised.

The offering from the Sunday School children is given to Talita Cumi, a Christian orphanage in Bolivia. A missionary family from Wisconsin is associated with this orphanage. For more information about Talita Cumi, visit them at www.talitacumi.org.

Middle School and High School Sunday School

We have one combined 6th – 8th grade class, and one combined 9th – 12th grade class. Both classes discuss Christianity, Jesus, God, and faith as they apply to life situations and current events. They meet at the church’s house, which is next door to the church building.

Sunbeams Choir

The Sunbeams are composed of our youngest Sunday school children, ages 2-6. They rehearse every Sunday morning from 10:30 to 10:45 a.m. in the preschool classroom. They sing for the congregation during the 9:30 a.m. worship service, the second Sunday of each month. Every other year, they also participate in a Sunday school Christmas program.

Summer Programs

Summer programs are offered for children 3 years old through 5th grade. Vacation Bible School is from 9:00 - Noon, July 28-31, 2008. We have summer Sunday school for 3-6 year olds from 9:45 - 10:30 a.m. and Sunday school for 1st-5th graders one Sunday a month from 9:45 - 10:30 a.m. First through fifth graders can also participate in a Bible Scavenger Hunt each month. Scavenger hunt sheets are printed in the newsletter and are available in the church office.
